This retrospective exhibition presents a selection of works, graphic pieces and mixed media works, summarising the artist’s research over a career spanning almost forty years and exemplifying the refinement, complexity and simplicity of his poetics: the mechanism of visual perception is involved, whereby our eye, through the cones of the retina and via these and the optic nerve to the brain, receives and transmits, thanks to light, the vision of basic colours and their variations. This physical implication is accompanied by a philosophical interpretation, which involves the concept of reality and its actual possibility of knowledge by human beings, the faculties and limitations of our senses, and at the same time the predominant importance of subjective interpretation, as well as the unknown with regard to everything that escapes us, that cannot be reached by our physical and psychic means.
Romantic antecedents, in the wonder and panic-stricken terror that emerges when in contact with the powerful and ancestral beauty of nature, the charm of ancient places rich in history, suggestions of distant and unreachable geographies, imaginative mixtures, are combined with the scientific point of view of the meticulous and delicate pointillist technique, which Reveylant veils with introspective suggestions, questions beyond the material scene, towards dreamlike fusions and metaphysical doubts.
