On the occasion of the fourth edition of The places of Tiepolo in celebration, organized by the Network of Tiepolo places and aimed at spreading knowledge of the artistic production of Giambattista and his sons Giandomenico and Lorenzo, the Civic Museums of Padua – Art Museum have scheduled an exhibition of the Capricci by Giambattista, preserved in the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints at Palazzo Zuckermann, from February 27 to March 8, and on March 5, at 5:30 PM, a public meeting dedicated to enhancing these engravings.
The contents of the meeting, organized in collaboration between the Art Museum and the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Padua, Treviso and Belluno, will be presented by Elisabetta Gastaldi, Curator of the Medieval and Modern Art Museum, with the participation of Debora Tosato, Art Historian, who will hold a lecture titled “The Creative Genius of Giambattista Tiepolo in Engraving: the Series of Capricci”. On this occasion, the genesis and characteristics of the series of Capricci will be illustrated, first published in the second edition of the Collection of Various Chiaroscuro Prints, published in 1743 in Venice by Anton Maria Zanetti (1706-1778), and created using the etching technique, which enhances the chiaroscuro vibration and the fluidity of the line.
