Musme – Guided tour of the exhibition ‘Stories of HEART and COURAGE’

MAR 7, 2026
For kids

The exhibition path takes visitors on a journey into the heart, between science, history, and innovation. It begins with a section dedicated to the functioning of the cardiovascular system, which, through artifacts, interactive models, and immersive installations, allows for an understanding of the physiological and symbolic complexity of the heart.

Next is the historical part, focused on the scientific revolution of William Harvey, who trained in Padua, and discovered blood circulation in the seventeenth century. Manuscripts and ancient volumes narrate the decisive role of Padua and its Academy in the birth of modern medicine and the intellectual courage that changed the way of studying the human body.

The heart of the exhibition is dedicated to the first heart transplant performed in Italy in 1985 by Prof. Vincenzo Gallucci. Historical artifacts, technologies such as the heart-lung machine and the ECMO system, along with audio testimonies from transplant recipients and donor families, offer a profound reflection on the value of donation.

The path concludes with the most recent achievements of cardiac surgery in Padua, led by Prof. Gino Gerosa, which have marked new frontiers in heart transplants and opened concrete prospects for the future of medicine.

The ticket also includes access to the Museum, which can be visited before or after the activity during opening hours.

If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the activity will be canceled and fees refunded.
