Second appointment of the Integrale dei Quartetti per Archi di Beethoven on Saturday 16 November ’24, at 5 p.m., at the Sala dei Giganti at the Liviano in Padua. The concert is part of the seven concerts organised by the Amici della Musica di Padova from November ’24 to February ’25, to present once again to the public of our city one of the most important works, not only within Beethoven’s artistic production, but of the entire history of chamber music of the 19th century and beyond. The protagonists of all seven concerts are the musicians of the Quartetto di Venezia, a historic ensemble, one of the most prestigious in Italy and Europe, known for its great technical mastery, interpretative ability and vast repertoire. Among the important recognitions obtained, the ‘Premio della Critica Italiana’ as best chamber music recording for the performance of G.F.Malipiero’s quartets. Since 2017 the Quartetto di Venezia has been ‘Quartet in Residence’ at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice.
The programme of the second concert in the series includes the performance of the Quartet op.59 no.2, one of the three quartets commissioned to Beethoven by Prince Rasumovsky, belonging to the central period of his compositional activity, and the Quartet op. 131, one of Beethoven’s last quartets, considered one of his creative peaks.
