Saturday, June 6, is the last Tartinian Exploration before the summer break. The cultural walks in Padua tracing the cultural legacy of Giuseppe Tartini, organized by the Friends of Music of Padua, in collaboration with the Guides of the Tartini2020 Association, will resume in September, taking place every Saturday of the month and concluding on October 3.
The Exploration on Saturday, June 6 will begin at 3:45 p.m. in front of the Church of San Gaetano, located at Via Altinate 73, and will focus specifically on this scenic building, not only a beautiful example of late Baroque church architecture but also a repository of numerous works of art. The Church of San Gaetano has always spoken to the hearts of Padua’s intellectuals, among whom the great musician and scholar Giuseppe Tartini was a prominent figure at the time. The story of his life and work will intertwine with the description of the church, illustrating its clear and original underlying Renaissance design. The Exploration will conclude at the place where Tartini is buried, the Church of Santa Caterina, located at Via Cesare Battisti, at 5:30 p.m., with a concert by the violinist Maria Ines Zanovello.
On the program are two of Tartini’s virtuosic sonatas composed in the last part of his life.
The concert will be introduced by musicologist Angela Forin.
