The performing arts return as protagonists in Padua and Rovigo with the thirteenth edition of Musikè, an event promoted and organized by the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation.
From 16 April to 17 December the capitals and the two provinces will host fifteen events, many of which will be regional or national premieres, with free entry and reservations required.
Fifteen shows that will also lead the public to reflect on some historical events that characterized the twentieth century.
THE GREAT ANNIVERSARIES AT MUSIKÈ 2024
The 2024 edition of Musikè is intertwined with some important anniversaries.
With music, thanks to Enrico Pieranunzi, the hundred years of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the fifty years since the death of Duke Ellington will be remembered, while the civil theater of Antonella Questa, Luca Scarlini and Ottavia Piccolo will retrace one of the darkest pages of the last century, the Matteotti crime, the centenary of which is this year: the event will pay homage to the anti-fascist politician, brother-in-law of the great baritone Titta Ruffo, also through the family passion, opera, which Danilo Rea will revisit in a jazzy way.
Thanks to the actress, author and activist Cinzia Spanò there will then be the opportunity to get to know “the other Resistance”, the lesser-known one, embodied by Palma Bucarelli, historic director of the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, who was responsible for saving the works of art during the Second World War.
Just as there will be the opportunity to relive, together with Petra Magoni and Andrea Dindo, the meeting between Milva and Giorgio Strehler, which led to a historic interpretation of the repertoire of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. Giuseppe Cederna’s theater will highlight the centrality of the body in the life of every human being, while Lucrezia Lante della Rovere will investigate the tensions of the couple and the doubts about its duration and its stability; finally, Luca Bizzarri’s irony will make us come to terms with that image of us that we refuse to see. Dance will show its saving power with the Hervé Koubi Company, it will reflect on utopia with the ŻfinMalta Company and it will dialogue with the circus and clowning in the show Oh Oh, presented in its Italian premiere by the Baccalà Company.
For the first time the event offers its Christmas concert: the award-winning vocal group of the Swingle Singers will close the thirteenth edition after having inaugurated the first edition of Musikè in 2012.
