Oratorio di San Massimo

16 MAY - 17 OCT 2026
Other

The arrival at the Oratory of San Massimo, in the hamlet of Borghetto di Villa del Conte, comes as a surprise. The small church, simple with its gabled appearance and its Romanesque forms, is actually a very old building, dating back to between the 9th and 10th centuries. In fact, testimonies and evidence reveal how this site, located along the ancient Romea Strata, has always been a landmark for pilgrims, first as a pagan point and later a Christian one.
The restoration efforts have uncovered frescoes and historical evidence, while inside there is a small museum with Lombard artifacts and materials from Roman times.
