Each of the three weeks of the Padova Jazz Festival will culminate in a Sunday morning concert in the Sala Rossini of the Caffè Pedrocchi. The first of the three live events will be on Sunday, November 9 at 11:30 AM featuring the intense melodic intertwining of the duo made up of Roberto Taufic (guitar, vocals) and Fausto Beccalossi (accordion, vocals).

An acoustic duo with particularly popular instrumentation (guitar, accordion, and vocals): Roberto Taufic and Fausto Beccalossi powerfully and elegantly convey the vibrations of the musical cultures from their places of origin: Brazil and Italy.

Roberto Taufic was born in 1966 in Honduras, has Palestinian roots on his mother’s side, grew up in the northeast of Brazil (from the age of five), and has resided in Italy since 1990. His solo style, as well as his compositions, fully breathe the stimulating influence of these diverse musical cultures, manifesting in an expressive palette that ranges from choro to a wide array of other Latin American styles and jazz.

A guitarist, arranger, producer, and educator, Taufic collaborates with various artists from the Brazilian, American, Italian, and European scenes, including Rosalia De Souza, Guinga, Jaques Morelenbaum, Alfredo Paixão, Ana Flora, Randy Brecker, Enrico Rava, Barbara Casini, Silvia Donati, Gabriele Mirabassi, Fabrizio Bosso, Maria Pia De Vito, Rita Marcotulli, Cristina Zavalloni, Gianmaria Testa, Sergio Cammariere, Michele Rabbia, Flavio Boltro, Gianni Coscia, Miroslav Vitous, Franco Ambrosetti.

Fausto Beccalossi is one of the leading specialists of the reed instrument. In 1994 he was ‘discovered’ at a Siena Jazz seminar by Enrico Rava (known for his infallible talent scouting). In 1999, he began playing in the nonet of Gianluigi Trovesi, to which he later added collaborations with some of the main jazz musicians from the Italian and international scenes: Kenny Wheeler, Gabriele Mirabassi, Paolo Fresu, Mauro Negri, Maria Pia De Vito… Fausto Beccalossi has also been one of the pillars of the Al Di Meola World Symphony quintet for over a decade, performing at the most important world festivals and recording alongside musicians such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Charlie Haden, Mino Cinelu, and Peter Erskine.

The Padova Jazz Festival is organized by the Cultural Association Miles chaired by Gabriella Piccolo Casiraghi, in collaboration with the municipal administration and regional administration, with contributions from Bosco Costruzioni and Volksbank, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
