From 25 January to 16 February 2025, the Sala della Gran Guardia in Piazza dei Signori, Padua, will host the exhibition ‘The Liberation Struggle in Padua narrated by the students: a path of research and reflection between sources, history, culture and art’.
The exhibition, promoted by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Padua, is an initiative of the Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore Giovanni Valle of Padua and is the final stage of the project ‘At the Origins of Freedom and Democracy: the Resistance in Padua 80 years later’. Fifty-eight students from the school’s various courses of study and a group of teachers, coordinated by Professor Alessandro Naccarato, created the exhibition with the collaboration of a number of the city’s cultural and institutional centres, such as the University of Padua’s Centre for History, Casrec, Progetto Giovani and the Culture sector of the Padua City Council.
The exhibition proposes an account of the Resistance in Padua through a two-pronged approach: on the one hand, the selection of historical sources, and on the other, the display of some graphic works produced by the students and dedicated to the most significant moments of the Liberation struggle in the city. The reference point for the project was the 80th anniversary of the Resistance in 2025: an anniversary that represents an important celebratory moment for the whole country and a concrete opportunity to start a research path to be publicly shared with all citizens.
