Saint Anthony was born in Portugal (Lisbon) in 1195.
He joined the Franciscan order, was a charismatic preacher and theologian, known for his miracles and his devotion to Mary.
He died at 36 and was canonized the following year.
The Saint is venerated throughout the world.
