Masterpieces of drawing from the Musée de Grenoble
Palazzo Zabarella continues its international dialogue with important world-famous museum institutions. Now is the turn of the prestigious collaboration with the City of Grenoble which, through its Museum, among the most important in Europe, has made a significant selection of its rich collection of drawings available, revealing a part of the collection that has so far been unexplored.
With this fascinating exhibition, Palazzo Zabarella wanted to propose a different, very original approach to understanding the experiments of the movements and protagonists who profoundly renewed the vision and representation of reality in the first half of the twentieth century.
On display are the great protagonists of the post-impressionist avant-garde that developed before and after the war: from neo-impressionism to Fauve-inspired expressionism, from cubism to the return to order, from Dadaist rebellion to surrealist dreams and abstraction.
The names that can be found are those of Matisse, Picasso, Chagall, Miró, Modigliani, Signac, Bonnard, Vuillard, Rouault, Delaunay, Arp, Balthus, and many others. The contaminations between poetry, literature and visual arts are also explored as in the case of the drawings of Cocteau, Artaud, Klossowski and Michaux.
