Exhibition “Rosa Genoni”

Cycle of collateral initiatives With its collection of textile art, Palazzo Zuckermann is the ideal venue to host an exhibition dedicated to Rosa Genoni (1867-1954), an eclectic figure of “stylist”, teacher, journalist and political activist, considered the true creator of Made in Italy fashion Italy.

The material on display comes from the collection of Raffaella Podreider – whose archive in 2016 was declared of historical interest by the Archival Superintendency of Lombardy – and from the Anna Kuliscioff ETS Foundation of Milan.

 It includes documents, historical photographs, sketches, period fashion sketches and original artefacts created by Rosa Genoni, including the Covoni dress, shown in an absolute preview after a careful recovery operation. What emerges is the profile of a multifaceted and modern female figure, a feminist ante litteram, in whose life fashion and politics end up converging on the terrain of emancipation. Parallel to the exhibition, a rich calendar of related initiatives is planned such as conferences, guided tours, the presentation of a book and the staging of a theater show based on Rosa’s biographical and professional story.
