“A riveder le stelle” is a contemporary art exhibition curated by Barbara Codogno on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri organized by the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Padua from 30th October 2021 to 31st January 2022 in the temporary exhibition rooms of the Museo Eremitani, in collaboration with the Collection “The Bank Contemporary Art Collection.”

“Certainly the relationship between Giotto and Dante is controversial and it is unlikely that they ever met – explains the Councillor for Culture Andrea Colasio – No less controversial is the relationship between Padua and Dante, who instead visited, and who identified it in the Divine Comedy as a place of evil, putting it among the damned in Canto XVII of Hell two people from Padovani: the first is Reginaldo Scrovegni, judged to be a strangler, the second, Vitaliano del Dente, to whom Dante makes predict the damnation of the Infirm right at Scrovegni ..” and because if I live – know that my neighbour Vitaliano- will sit here on my left side – With these Florentines, I am Padua….” Dante’s stalks also struck Padua for another important protagonist of the period Pietro D’Abano, who was not in favour of free will and who had certainly collaborated with Giotto in the frescoes of the Palazzo della Ragione. “The exhibition will create – concludes Andrea Colasio, – an evocative dialogue between Dante’s Divine Comedy and Giotto’s pictorial cycle in the nearby Cappella degli Scrovegni, his absolute masterpiece frescoed, candidate to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.” Dialogue finds evidence in the contemporary visual language thanks to the works of the Bassanese collector who has brought together the most celebrated names from the Italian figurative pictorial scene. The exhibitors will be: Agostino Arrivabene, Saturno Buttò, Desiderio, Marco Fantini, Sergio Fiorentino, Giovanni Gasparro, Alfio Giurato, Federico Guida, Maurizio L’Altrella, Paolo Maggis, Nicola Nannini, Sergio Padovani, Alessandro Papetti, Luca Pignatelli, Chiara Sorg Nicola Verlato, Vittorio Marella, Filippo Robboni, Santiago Ydanez for about fifty works on display, many of them large-scale.
