Alongside “traditional” and religious tourism, Padova has recently seen the significant development of congress tourism, becoming a reference point on the national scene.
The charm of the city, but also the proximity to Venice and the strategic position of Padova Fair, which is well connected to the road network while not being far from the city centre: these are some of the elements that make the centre of Via Tommaseo the ideal location for all sorts of events, including international ones.
The teamwork and synergy between the University and its departments, the Fair and other city institutions has enabled the University to beat the competition of other international congress centres and to bring many great medical congresses back to the city which saw the birth of modern medicine and where Galileo Galilei worked.
Among the noteworthy events of recent years: in 2017 SSI – Solid State Ionics International Congress , one of the most anticipated events in the field of Chemical Sciences, the Critical Limb Ischemia Course, which in 2019 focused on the advancement of research in the field of limb ischemia or the & 56t Inner Ear Biology Workshop Symposium, which explored new frontiers in the field of ear biology, or again, in November 2019, two major appointments that attracted more than 1,000 participants each, such as the SIBIOC – Laboratory Medicine National Congress and the National Congress of Diabetologists – AMD.
