Pietro D’Abano
Hi, I’m Pietro, born in Abano in 1250. While still very young, I went to Greece to study the language and then I moved to Constantinople and England, Scotland and finally to Paris where I graduated from the Sorbonne in philosophy and medicine.
Giovanni Mussato
Hi, I am Giovanni Mussato, born in 1533 from a noble Paduan family and since I was a young man I have dedicated myself to the study of Greek, Latin, Italian and Hebrew. A shy and reserved man, I have never accepted the offer by the University of Padova to hold a professorship in humanities. As I was more interested in the government of the city I became a zealous servant of my City. I have held positions of great importance for 40 years.
Marco Mantova Benavides
Hi, I’m Marco Mantova Benavides born in Padova in 1489 from a noble Mantuan family. My family was of Spanish origin and had moved to Padova from Mantua, city I took my surname after. I studied law at the University of Padova and I have dedicated my life to forensic activity, especially looking after the poor and the dispossessed. For my fame and wisdom at the behest of the Doge Francesco Donado, I was entrusted with the chair of canon and civil law at the University of Padova, a position I held for 60 years.
