In 2013 Sandro and Michele Vecchiato took an idea they had been considering for some time and made it into a reality, creating an agricultural brewery within their home city of Padua. The two brothers already had extensive experience in the marketing of top-quality beers: at the beginning of the 1980s they had taken charge of the family business, Interbrau, and over the next thirty years would make it into Italy’s leading distributor of special beers. The time was thus right for the realisation of a dream they had nursed for a long time. Thus Birra Antoniana came into being.
In 2013, after almost two years’ work on the brewery itself, beer production began in a highly innovative faculty equipped machinery that was predominantly of Italian manufacture. In the design of the brewery, great attention had been paid to sustainability – the machinery is powered by renewable energy sources – and low environmental impact, a state-of-the-art purifier makes sure that the waters flowing into the drainage system is chemically and biologically safe.
At the 2107 International Beer Challenge in London, the brothers had the satisfaction of seeing Birra Antoniana recognised as “European Brewer of the Year”.
